Quilt of Valor Awarded to Richard Dinger

The Decorah Quilts of Valor group will be presenting quilts to nine men at Aase Haugen, who qualify to receive one, on Monday, February 16 at 3:30 p.m. in the dining room. One of the recipients is Good Shepherd Charter Member Richard Dinger.   It would be nice if some folks from Good Shepherd would attend the presentation and be there to help honor Richard. The mission of the Quilts of Valor Foundation <http://www.qovf.org/> is to cover service members and veterans touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor.  Over 1,400 quilts have been awarded this month alone.  All members of the Quilts of Valor Foundation staff are volunteers.  Marie Freerking is a QOV member and will be assisting with this presentation.

In the fall of 2013, Good Shepherd established a Gift Fund as part of its “A Celebration Of Gathering: 25th Anniversary Of the Expansion of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church’s Building and Mission”. A significant portion of the Fund was designated for local and global Mission Outreach endeavors. The Free Clinic was chosen as the local area agency and in the spring of 2014, Good Shepherd’s first contribution of $4,822.00 was presented.
