Syrian Refugee Crisis

LIRSLOGOSCREENFULLCOLOR200PX-V
The Good Shepherd Social Justice committee has gathered resources to help us continue to reflect upon and respond the Syrian refugee crisis in light of recent terrorist attacks and political responses in the US. The resources include a statement from the president of Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services (LIRS) and a statement that LIRS suggests we bring to our elected officials. These resources have been compiled into a document that you can see here.  Statement from LIRS

Gender-Free Bathrooms at Good Shepherd

In keeping with our welcome to all, especially lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people, Good Shepherd has added signage signifying the availability of gender free bathrooms. These single-stall bathrooms are also ADA accessible and have infant changing tables.

Using the restroom is a multi-daily issue for transgender and gender non-conforming individuals. Good Shepherd is glad to take this additional step to create a sense of belonging for transgender members and visitors to our congregation.

Our two gender-free bathrooms are located in the east hallway at Good Shepherd.

The new signs for our restrooms were donated by the company that makes them. Schools, churches, and nonprofits may be eligible for free signs by contacting the company.

Good Shepherd is a Reconciling in Christ congregation, affirming our welcome to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender persons to participate fully in the life of our congregation.
