Kids Lunch Club Update

 Kids-Lunch-Club-2

In the past two weeks, Kids Lunch Club served an average of 40 lunches a day.  We continue to serve 31 lunches at Carrie Lee elementary school for the summer reading program.  We continue to seek opportunities to get the word out about Kids Lunch Club.  Continue to tell those you know that free lunch is served everyday from 11:45am-1pm at John Cline for ALL kids up to 18 years old.

We have utilized an average of 35 volunteers a week for packing and distributing lunches in the past two weeks.  We are also grateful to two local donors for their contributions to KLC, including: Grass Run Farms (beef stick ends and pieces) and Rockweiler Appliance and TV (refrigerator for summer use).

Thanks for your continued support of this program through volunteering, monetary donation, and prayer.  While we have met our financial goal, you can still donate to help us expand the program and help us build up donations to roll into next summer.  Donate at kidslunchclub.org.  There are also still volunteer spots available for packing and distribution.  Thanks for your support!

Kathryn Thompson
Kids Lunch Club Summer Coordinator

Additional note:  The Good Shepherd kitchen is a packing site every Thursday evening from 5-6 p.m. approximately. According to Thompson,
“Lunches are on a five day rotation, so students receive a different lunch MondayFriday, and then that schedule repeats the next week.  Even within that rotation, we try to mix up the side-dishes or snacks that are packed with the main item to keep things interesting.”  For example, the Good Shepherd site packed 55 lunches on 7/7 that included beef sticks, celery sticks and peanut butter cup for dipping, Cheez-Its, fruit cup, and protein granola bar.  The 5 volunteers also packed bags of cereal for kids to take for breakfast. Friday, August 12 is the last day for Kids Lunch Club.
