Advent Begins Sunday, November 28

The season of ADVENT begins next Sunday, November 28. We will share in midweek evening worship on Wednesdays December 1st, 8th, 15th,, and 22nd at 5:30 pm. These services will be simple, brief and kid friendly. Confirmation students are expected to attend. We’ll sing Holden Evening Prayer and reflect upon our theme of Holy Darkness. A devotional resource for all ages and a resource for families are both available to pick up on one of the small tables outside the sanctuary.

Families are invited to sign up to light the Advent Wreath during Sunday or Wednesday worship. Sign up on the paper on the counter outside the office today, online on SignUp Genius, or by emailing

Words for Nov. 28: “The season of Advent is about waiting for the coming of the Lord. We wait for Christ’s arrival that happened two thousand years ago and for the arrival that is yet to occur. We journey toward Bethlehem in the comforting but challenging reality of the “already” and the “not yet.” We travel with holy anticipation to meet the newborn king in the manger. The mood of Advent is one of longing. Even as we listen to our longings, we lean into the “already” promise of Advent.

Advent is about hope for today, and Jesus is with us in the liminal time between the already and the not yet.” (from Sundays and Seasons, preparing for Advent.)
