Since its founding in 1958, Good Shepherd has had a long history of mission involvement and outreach. Outreach continues to play a very important role in the life of the congregation as we strive to extend God's loving hand to others in the community and around the world. Activities include:
Namibian Companion Synod Project - Through our membership in the Northeastern Iowa Synod of the ELCA, Good Shepherd shares a special relationship with congregations and individuals in The Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Republic of Namibia, particularly the Exodus Congregation in Tsumeb.
Missionary Support - The congregation provides financial and prayer support for Bayo and Mary Beth Oyebade and Mashiah Foundation & Clinic doing God’s work in Jos, Nigeria.
Decorah Area Faith Coalition - Good Shepherd participates in an interfaith coalition of local congregations serving the needs of the community. The coalition sponsors a weekly Free Health Clinic at First Lutheran Church, as well as other services.
Men's Breakfast - Each Wednesday morning at 7:30 a.m., a group of men gather at Good Shepherd for fellowship and conversation.
Community Food Pantry – The congregation helps to support a community Food Pantry located at First Lutheran Church.
Facility Sharing – Good Shepherd opens the church doors to numerous community groups in need of a place to gather.
