As part of the Evangelism Committee's activities, the congregation is collecting pictures and stories that help us understand the life of the congregation, as well as maintain its history. As it develops, links to this page will include photographs of various activities that have been related to the congregation's activities in recent years. In 2005 Marion Hanson introduced Prayer Shawl Ministry to Good Shepherd Church. Since then, a group of women have been gathering from 1:00-3:00 on the first and third Wednesday of the month to knit and crochet prayer shawls; approximately 175 have been created in that time. The group asks God to bless a completed shawl before it is given to someone who will benefit from its solace. Prayer Shawl dates and locations are printed in the church newsletter, bulletin, and church schedules appearing in Decorah newspapers and on the Good Shepherd website. We have a supply of Lion Brand Homespun yarn; those who prefer a different type are welcome to purchase it and present a receipt for reimbursement with funds provided by Good Shepherd WELCA. We welcome names of those who would appreciate receiving a shawl.
The Good Shepherd Prayer Shawl Ministry will meet twice in April: 4/4 - Ruth Bruce; 4/18 - Jerrine Jacobsen. All knitters and crocheters are welcome to join us at any time. We can equip you with yarn and patterns, thanks to the generous support of the Good Shepherd WELCA.
A decision was made in late March to take the next few months off from having scheduled gatherings. Feel free to continue the ministry on your own and we will reunite in the fall.
Contact Ruth Bruce at 382-2202 (lwez2@yahoo.com) for more information.

During the process of evaluating and updating the Good Shepherd website we realized that the website doesn’t fully reflect the energy and excitement of our church. We are missing photos and stories of so many church activities. If you have some photos and brief stories you are willing to share, send them digitally to Marv Slind, our church webmaster. To make it easier for Marv and those willing to share we are setting monthly deadlines the same as we have for the newsletter. That way you can send articles for both publications at the same time. We are also looking for a donation of a digital camera that will be kept in the church office. That way a camera will always be available to capture the joy of God’s children celebrating and serving one another.
Please send photos to Marv’s Luther email: slindmar@luther.edu
